Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, and the Dean of the College of Science, Assistant Professor Dr. Furat Hamza Al-Sultani, and under the direct supervision of the Head of the Forensic Evidence Department, Professor Dr. Sami Abdul Hussein Habbana, the Department of Forensic Evidence at the College of Science organized a scientific workshop entitled “An Important Scientific Overview of Forensic Sciences (Forensic Medicine)” as part of the Sustainability Week activities.
The workshop was delivered by student Hashem Abdul Munaf, who highlighted the vital role of forensic sciences and forensic medicine in crime detection and in strengthening the criminal justice system through the scientific analysis of physical evidence.
The workshop covered several key topics, including fingerprint analysis, DNA examination, and the analysis of biological samples, with emphasis on the importance of scientific disciplines in serving law and society. It also addressed modern techniques used in evidence analysis and the crucial role of experts in maintaining the integrity of investigations and ensuring accurate results.
This workshop supports the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) by emphasizing the role of forensic medicine in building justice institutions founded on scientific evidence and objective facts, thereby promoting justice and reducing injustice and violations.
