Dr. Dhulfiqar Ahmed Hamza, Head of the Department of Medical Laboratory Techniques, held an extensive meeting with the department’s Activities Committee, in the presence of committee members and several faculty members, to discuss the organization of the scientific and cultural activities scheduled for the upcoming month, aiming to develop students’ skills and enhance the department’s role in supporting extracurricular activities. At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Dhulfiqar Ahmed Hamza emphasized the importance of activating student activities, highlighting their significant role in shaping students’ personalities and developing their scientific and practical abilities. He stressed that all activities should align with the department’s academic specialization and contribute to the educational process. The meeting included a review of the main proposed activities for the next month, which encompassed specialized scientific workshops in modern laboratory techniques, training courses on professional safety within laboratories, in addition to organizing health awareness campaigns targeting college students and the local community. The attendees also discussed the proposal of holding an open scientific day featuring practical presentations by students under the supervision of their instructors, aiming to enhance self-confidence and develop presentation and scientific communication skills. They also considered organizing an academic competition among different study levels to encourage positive competitive spirit among students. Several developmental proposals were presented during the meeting, including greater student involvement in the planning and organization process, assigning dedicated teams for each activity to ensure proper implementation, as well as coordinating with other departments to hold joint events that foster academic collaboration. In conclusion, Dr. Dhulfiqar Ahmed Hamza recommended establishing a clear timetable for the proposed activities, defining responsibilities, and monitoring execution periodically, affirming the full support of the department’s leadership for all initiatives that contribute to raising the scientific and cultural level of the department’s students. This meeting reflects the Department of Medical Laboratory Techniques’ commitment to promoting an active university environment that combines academic excellence with constructive student activities.
