The role of technology in promoting women's participation in the labor market Technological advancement plays a crucial role in enhancing women’s participation in the labor market by removing many traditional barriers related to location, time constraints, and job structure. Digitalization and remote work have expanded employment opportunities, particularly for women who face social limitations or significant caregiving responsibilities. According to the International Labour Organization, expanding access to digital technologies can help reduce gender gaps in economic participation, especially when combined with digital skills training and inclusive labor policies. The World Bank highlights that digital transformation creates new pathways for female entrepreneurship through e-commerce and online freelance platforms. Furthermore, United Nations Women emphasizes that technological empowerment strengthens women’s economic independence and decision-making power within households and communities. Online learning platforms have also enabled women to acquire competencies in programming, data analysis, and digital marketing, broadening their access to high-growth sectors. Nevertheless, challenges persist, including the gender digital divide, unequal internet access, and structural biases within the technology sector. Therefore, investing in digital infrastructure, inclusive education, and gender-responsive policies is essential to ensure that technology serves as a tool for empowerment and sustainable inclusion rather than reinforcing existing inequalities.
