The President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, a member of the Private Higher Education Council, participated in the sixth session of the Private Higher Education Council, which was held on March 4, 2026, at Al-Zahraa (PBUH) University in the city of Karbala.
The session was chaired by Professor Dr. Haider Abdul Dhahd, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Scientific Research Affairs, and attended by several directors general and senior staff members of the Ministry, in addition to a number of presidents of private universities in Iraq.
The meeting discussed several important topics related to the development of private universities, most notably the procedures of admission and registration and the mechanisms required to ensure smooth and efficient administrative processes that better serve students. Participants also addressed the establishment of medical colleges in private universities, emphasizing the importance of providing a competitive educational environment that aligns with international academic standards.
In addition, the council reviewed a number of administrative and regulatory matters, including taxation and university requirements, in order to support the stability of educational institutions and ensure the success of the educational process.
The participants also praised the tangible scientific achievements made by private universities in Iraq in recent years and their growing role in supporting higher education and scientific research.
This session represents an important step toward strengthening coordination and cooperation between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and private universities, contributing to improving the quality of university education and providing an advanced academic environment that meets the requirements of fourth-generation universities and keeps pace with global standards.
