Biodiversity is considered one of the most important elements that maintain the stability of ecosystems on Earth. Biodiversity refers to the variety of living organisms including plants, animals, and microorganisms, as well as the diversity of genes and ecosystems. This diversity plays a vital role in sustaining life and supporting natural biological processes. Importance of Biodiversity Biodiversity contributes to maintaining ecological balance by regulating relationships among different organisms such as predation, symbiosis, and competition. It also helps stabilize food chains and ensures the continuity of natural resources that humans depend on, such as food, medicine, and clean air. Causes of Biodiversity Loss Today, ecosystems face many threats that lead to a decline in biodiversity, such as environmental pollution, deforestation, climate change, overhunting, and urban expansion. These factors contribute to the extinction of many species and threaten the natural balance of the environment. Methods of Biodiversity Conservation Biodiversity can be preserved by protecting natural reserves, reducing environmental pollution, spreading environmental awareness among people, and using natural resources sustainably without harming ecosystems. Protecting biodiversity is a shared responsibility of all members of society because it plays a fundamental role in sustaining life on Earth and ensuring a healthy environment for future generations.
