Engineering Technical College at Al-Mustaqbal University Holds Scientific Seminar Celebrating Iraqi Women’s Day

The Engineering Technical College at Al-Mustaqbal University held an in-person scientific seminar on Sunday, March 9, 2026, in celebration of Iraqi Women’s Day. The event was organized by the Women’s Affairs Unit in the college in cooperation with the Department of Building and Construction Engineering Technologies. It took place at the college headquarters at Al-Mustaqbal University, with the attendance of a number of faculty members, staff, and many students. This event was held under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University and under the supervision and guidance of the Dean of the Engineering Technical College, Dr. Azhar Mohsen Abd. It reflects the university’s commitment to supporting women and strengthening their role in society and across various scientific and professional fields. This aligns with Al-Mustaqbal University’s vision of leading private universities in Iraq in empowering human potential and supporting the path toward sustainable development. The event included a scientific seminar titled “The Role of Women in Urban Development, Civil Engineering, and Interior Design: Empowering Women to Lead in Design and Organization.” The seminar was presented by Lecturer Dr. Zainab Hussein Ali and Lecturer Dr. Alaa Hussein Abdul Amir. The discussion highlighted the importance of empowering women and emphasizing their role in engineering and design fields, as well as shedding light on their contributions to the development of the construction sector and their active participation in the development process. On this occasion, the Dean of the Engineering Technical College, Dr. Azhar Mohsen Abd, delivered a speech congratulating Iraqi women on their day. He praised their significant role in building society and their outstanding contributions in the fields of science and work. He also affirmed the college’s continued support for women’s talents and its commitment to providing an academic environment that fosters creativity and excellence. The seminar witnessed active engagement from the attendees through comments and discussions that emphasized the importance of empowering women and strengthening their participation in scientific and professional fields. These discussions align with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 5 (Gender Equality), Goal 4 (Quality Education), and Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), contributing to the advancement of development and the building of a sustainable knowledge-based society.
