Scientific Workshop in the Department of Biology on Soilless Cultivation Techniques

As part of the scientific activities of the Department of Life Sciences, a scientific workshop entitled “Soilless Cultivation Techniques (Hydroponics and Aeroponics)” was delivered by Asst. Lect. Zainab Nazim Aziz on Sunday, March 8, 2026, for third-year students of the department. The workshop addressed the concept of soilless cultivation and its importance in developing modern agricultural practices. It also highlighted the techniques of hydroponic and aeroponic systems and explained how these methods are used to grow plants without relying on soil, in addition to discussing their role in reducing water consumption and increasing agricultural production efficiency. The workshop also included scientific discussions and active participation from students, which contributed to enhancing their understanding of these modern techniques and their importance in supporting agricultural innovation and achieving environmental sustainability. This workshop comes within the framework of the Department of Life Sciences’ efforts to strengthen students’ scientific knowledge and keep pace with recent developments in biological and agricultural fields.
