Under the slogan of sustainability and environmental protection, and under the direct patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdy, the university has launched an extensive afforestation campaign. The initiative involved planting 10,000 perennial tree seedlings across the university campus and its surrounding areas.
This initiative is a key part of the university’s active contribution to the National Afforestation Program, coordinated between the Department of Divan Affairs and the University Presidency. The campaign aims to expand green spaces, creating a healthy and attractive educational environment for both students and staff. Furthermore, it plays a vital role in mitigating the negative impacts of climate change and reducing the university's carbon footprint.
The campaign witnessed broad academic and community participation, with university leaders and faculty members working alongside students. The "Sustainability Ambassadors"—a group of dedicated students—played a prominent role in organizing, distributing, and planting the seedlings across various locations.
The university administration emphasized that this step is not merely for aesthetic purposes. Rather, it embodies the university’s commitment to its scientific and social responsibility in fostering environmental awareness, promoting volunteerism, and strengthening institutional belonging, all in service of achieving sustainable development goals within the community.
