On Monday, March 16, 2026, the Department of Chemical Engineering and Petroleum Industries organized a specialized awareness workshop titled “Empowering Women in the Academic and Professional Environments,” under the supervision of Ms. Zainab Hassan Ali and Ms. Abrar Falah Naji, with the aim of enhancing women’s presence in engineering fields and developing their leadership capabilities to meet the demands of the job market.
The workshop addressed the concept of women’s empowerment as an integrated process that goes beyond academic support to include the development of effective communication skills and the building of a leadership personality capable of decision-making and participation in community development, with a focus on the role of female engineering students in achieving a balance between scientific competence and professional presence.
The two speakers emphasized the importance of empowering women in engineering disciplines as one of the fundamental pillars for achieving gender equality, through the provision of a supportive educational environment that ensures equal opportunities and promotes women’s participation in the oil and industrial sectors.
This workshop is part of the department’s efforts to support educational quality and strengthen women’s role in development, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and the goal of building a cadre of engineers capable of contributing to scientific and economic progress.
