On Saturday, March 14, 2026, faculty and students from the Department of Biology at ALMUSTAQBAL University contributed to supporting the green transition by carrying out a large-scale tree-planting campaign as part of the National Tree-Planting Program. The campaign was supervised by Assistant Professor Zainab Nazem Aziz, the activities coordinator, and Assistant Professor Jaafar Hamid Jaafar, the department chair, and was attended by a large number of faculty members and students.
This field initiative reflects the department’s commitment to translating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into tangible actions, reinforcing the university’s role in addressing climate challenges and enhancing the aesthetic and environmental quality of the campus.
The campaign involved planting a diverse selection of plant species carefully chosen for their environmental and aesthetic value. These included trees such as Bisea, Jatropha, and Washingtonia, as well as distinctive species such as Texas holly, Indian almond, and Thuria dumba, in addition to several other varieties of shade and ornamental plants.
This initiative is part of the plan of scientific and community service activities organized by ALMUSTAQBAL University to promote academic excellence and strengthen the university’s standing in international rankings as an environmentally responsible educational institution that actively supports the green transition with efficiency and commitment.
