Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, and in pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Engineering Technologies (Department of Electrical Engineering Technologies), in cooperation with the University’s Women’s Affairs Division, organized an awareness-raising and developmental workshop entitled: “Women Between Education and Leadership Towards the Future.” The workshop aimed to highlight the pivotal role of women in advancing scientific and technological progress, as well as exploring ways to transform academic achievement into entrepreneurial projects that serve society and support the national economy. The sessions addressed the importance of empowering women in engineering and technical fields, and examined strategies to overcome barriers limiting their access to decision-making positions and leadership roles in the labor market. This initiative is part of a series of activities organized by Al-Mustaqbal University to enhance the status of women and showcase their active contributions to building a sustainable future, in alignment with the university’s strategic vision of supporting scientific competencies and promoting community empowerment. Furthermore, this initiative is implemented in accordance with the Third National Action Plan for Women, Peace, and Security (2025–2030), and is consistent with the protection pillar, which focuses on enhancing women’s safety and security across various domains. It also falls within the framework of protection and prevention efforts, reflecting the department’s commitment to supporting sustainable development and strengthening community engagement in technological fields—most notably Sustainable Development Goal 5, which emphasizes gender equality, women’s empowerment, and enhancing their role within the educational environment. Al-Mustaqbal University is recognized as the leading university in Iraq.
