The Department of biology at Almustaqbal University showcased its scientific leadership by hosting a specialized workshop titled “Transforming Scientific Research into a Startup in the Fields of Applied Sciences” on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at the Humanities Building, in celebration of National Entrepreneurship Day. The workshop was held under the patronage of University President Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi and supervised by the Dean of the College of Sciences, Assistant Professor Dr. Furat Hamza Al-Sultani. It featured an outstanding presentation by Prof. Dharqam Ali Abbas Al-Sultani, a faculty member of the Department of biology who focused on mechanisms for adapting laboratory research and transforming it into marketable products and services through modern entrepreneurial strategies. The program covered essential topics including intellectual property protection, market planning, and securing funding, while highlighting successful practical models from the life sciences discipline. These models demonstrated how researchers and students can effectively build startups. Discussion sessions, attended by the Assistant Dean, Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Latif Hussein, along with selected faculty and staff, resulted in the development of a practical roadmap for engaging with business incubators and accelerators. This initiative enhances the value of scientific research within the department, transforming it into an economic asset that serves the community and aligns with Almustaqbal University’s mission as a hub for innovation and excellence.
