Al-Mustaqbal University Commemorates World Water Day 2026 with a Workshop on "Women's Empowerment and Water Sustainability"

On the occasion of World Water Day 2026, Al-Mustaqbal University organized a specialized webinar On Sunday, March 22, 2026 titled: "From Awareness to Empowerment: The Role of Women in Achieving Water Resource Sustainability." Held under the patronage of the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi, the event aimed to support the sixth Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 6) and promote gender equality in resource management. In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi emphasized the importance of instilling sound environmental practices and directing scientific research and graduation projects toward addressing water scarcity. Meanwhile, the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, Prof. Dr. Mudhaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairy, reviewed the impact of climate change on water security, stressing that empowering women is a cornerstone of sustainable management. The workshop also highlighted the university's field initiatives, such as the implementation of smart sensors, high-efficiency irrigation systems, and wastewater recycling projects within the campus. The event featured specialized presentations by Prof. Dr. Tariq Jawad, Dr. Mahdi Shanshal, Prof. Dr. Iman Abdul Aziz, and Eng. Khalid Kadhim Al-Salhi. Their sessions covered strategies for raising community awareness and showcased successful international experiences in water conservation. This initiative underscores the pioneering role of Al-Mustaqbal University in supporting sustainability issues and bridging the gap between academia and societal needs.
