As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance the intellectual skills of its students, the College of Engineering and Technology at Future University announced the active and distinguished participation of its faculty and students in the major intercollegiate debate competition. The final list of candidates included Omar Hussein Naji, a student from the Department of Computer Engineering, who was selected as one of the key members of the university’s team. Omar’s selection serves as a testament to the competence of the college’s students and their ability to combine technical academic excellence with rhetorical and debating skills. The college’s role was not limited to student participation; Assistant Professor Zainab Kazim Jaber, a faculty member at the College of Engineering and Technology, was selected to serve on the competition’s judging panel, reflecting the high level of trust in the college’s teaching staff and their ability to evaluate intellectual and discursive arguments according to international academic standards. For its part, the department emphasized that this participation aligns with the college deanship’s directives regarding the need to involve engineering students in events that develop “soft skills” such as persuasion, critical analysis, and teamwork—skills that are no less important than technical expertise in the job market.
