University education has undergone a profound transformation following the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced educational institutions worldwide to rapidly adopt flexible and technology-driven learning models to ensure the continuity of academic activities. Among these models, hybrid learning has emerged as a dominant approach that combines face-to-face instruction with online education, offering increased flexibility, accessibility, and efficiency in delivering educational content. Hybrid learning enables students to access lectures, digital resources, and interactive platforms at any time and from any location, allowing for personalized learning experiences that adapt to individual learning speeds and preferences. It also supports modern pedagogical approaches such as project-based learning, collaborative online engagement, and interactive assessments that enhance student understanding and academic performance. However, despite these advantages, hybrid learning introduces significant challenges, particularly related to social interaction and student well-being. The reduced level of direct human interaction in online environments can lead to feelings of isolation, decreased motivation, and weakened social connections among students. Additionally, disparities in access to reliable internet, digital devices, and technological infrastructure can create inequalities in educational opportunities. Addressing these challenges requires a balanced integration of digital and in-person learning components, ensuring that hybrid models maintain strong interpersonal engagement while leveraging technological benefits. Institutions must also implement strategies that support students’ mental health, promote active participation, and encourage meaningful academic interaction. Ultimately, hybrid learning represents the future of higher education, but its success depends on the ability to create inclusive, interactive, and human-centered learning environments that effectively combine technological innovation with social connectivity.
