Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Science, Assistant Professor Dr. Furat Hamza Al-Sultani, with the follow-up of the Head of the Department of Intelligent Medical Systems, the Women’s Affairs Division, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Science / Department of Intelligent Medical Systems, and with the participation of the Department of Medical Biotechnology, organized a distinguished scientific workshop on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, entitled “The Role of Women in Water Consumption.” The workshop was attended by a number of faculty members and students of the College of Science interested in environmental and sustainability issues.
The workshop was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Najat Hamid Jassim, Programmer Aya Jamal Haidi, and Programmer Huda Khudair Hani. It highlighted the pivotal role of women in rationalizing water consumption and promoting responsible environmental behaviors within the family and society. It also addressed topics related to environmental risk management and climate change, emphasizing the importance of women’s role in raising environmental awareness, actively participating in sustainable decision-making, and supporting initiatives aimed at preserving natural resources.
The workshop included several practical themes, such as understanding methods for reducing water consumption, enhancing women’s community participation in addressing environmental challenges, and presenting practical models and practices applicable in daily life as well as in academic and community institutions. The session also witnessed active engagement from attendees through discussions and questions, contributing to enriching their knowledge and practical skills.
The workshop highlighted its connection to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), Goal 5 (Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment), Goal 13 (Climate Action), and Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), all of which promote the sustainable use of natural resources.
The workshop concluded with several practical recommendations, most notably supporting awareness programs that empower women, encouraging scientific research and university initiatives in water resource management, and enhancing women’s participation in environmental projects to achieve a positive and sustainable impact on both society and the environment.
This workshop comes as part of a series of scientific activities organized by Al-Mustaqbal University to promote environmental awareness and empower women as a key element in achieving sustainable development.
