The Department of Financial and Banking Sciences at the College of Administrative Sciences, Al-Mustaqbal University, organized a scientific seminar on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, entitled: “The Statistical Reality of Water Wastage in Iraq.” The event was held under the patronage of the esteemed University President, supervised by the Dean of the College of Administrative Sciences, and attended by a number of faculty members and students. The seminar aimed to shed light on the challenges Iraq faces regarding water wastage, amid declining water resources and increasing demand, as well as to highlight the importance of statistics and data in understanding the scope of the problem and developing appropriate solutions. The seminar included a scientific lecture delivered by Dr. Zain Al-Abidin Abboud Kazem Al-Husseini, in which he discussed the main causes of water wastage in Iraq, emphasizing the role of statistical analysis in diagnosing the magnitude of the problem and supporting decision-makers in adopting effective strategies to rationalize water consumption and preserve water resources. The seminar witnessed active engagement from the attendees through interventions and questions, reflecting the growing interest in environmental and water issues within the academic community. At the conclusion of the seminar, the importance of raising public awareness about water conservation was emphasized, along with the adoption of sustainable policies that contribute to achieving water security and ensuring the rights of future generations, in line with supporting the Sustainable Development Goals.
