Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, and under the direct supervision of the Dean of the College of Science, Assistant Professor Dr. Furat Hamza Hamza Al-Sultani, a distinguished scientific workshop entitled “The Role of Women in Achieving Water Sustainability” was held. The workshop was organized by the Women’s Affairs Division in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Science / Department of Medical Biotechnology, on Wednesday, March 25, 2026. The workshop witnessed the attendance of academics and students interested in environmental and sustainability issues. It was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Sarah Rahim Hamza, who addressed the importance of women’s role in rationalizing water consumption and promoting environmentally responsible behaviors within the family and society. The fifth محور (session), titled “The Role of Women in Managing Climate Change Risks and Protecting the Environment,” highlighted current environmental challenges and the pivotal role of women in addressing them through spreading environmental awareness, participating in sustainable decision-making, and supporting initiatives aimed at preserving natural resources. The workshop also emphasized its alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly: • Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation • Goal 5: Gender Equality • Goal 13: Climate Action • Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production The workshop concluded with several recommendations, most notably enhancing women’s role in awareness programs, encouraging scientific research in water resource management, and supporting university initiatives that contribute to achieving environmental sustainability. This event comes ضمن a series of scientific activities through which Al-Mustaqbal University seeks to enhance community awareness of environmental issues and empower women as a key element in achieving sustainable development.
