Department of Media at Al-Mustaqbal University Hosts Scientific Workshop on Water Sustainability and Resource Challenges in Iraq

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, and in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Department of Media within the College of Arts held a specialized scientific workshop today, Tuesday, March 24, 2026, titled: "Mechanisms for Preserving Water Resources in Iraq." The workshop was attended by the Dean of the College of Arts, along with a distinguished group of professors and faculty members. The primary sessions were led by Assistant Professor Dr. Hamza Obeiss Al-Janabi and Lecturer Dr. Qassim Mahdi Al-Mousawi. The event provided a comprehensive analysis of the water crisis in Iraq, reviewing the most prominent climatic and geopolitical challenges facing water resources. The speakers emphasized conservation strategies and the urgent need to adopt modern technologies in water management to ensure the sustainability of this vital lifeline. The session witnessed an in depth academic dialogue with contributions from the college faculty, who enriched the discussions with scientific interventions. They highlighted the pivotal role of university media in enhancing community awareness regarding environmental and water issues. This workshop is part of a series of scientific activities adopted by Al-Mustaqbal University to provide academic solutions to pressing national issues, reinforcing its position as a center for intellectual leadership and awareness in the region.
