The Women’s Affairs Committee at the Aesthetic and Laser Techniques Department Organizes an Online Workshop on Women’s Role in Combating Climate Change

The Women’s Affairs Committee at the Aesthetic and Laser Techniques Department held an online workshop on March 25, 2026, at 5:00 PM, entitled “Women: The First Line of Defense in Facing Climate Change”, aiming to highlight the pivotal role women play in environmental protection and in mitigating the effects of climate change. The workshop witnessed the participation of the Head of the Department, Prof. Assist. Dr. Fatima Hashem Abbas, along with Lecturer M.M. Haeman Waleed Malzoom, and Ms. Shahd Noors Abbas. The speakers delivered scientific and awareness-oriented presentations emphasizing the importance of promoting environmental awareness, encouraging sustainable behaviors, and highlighting the role of women in leading community-based initiatives for environmental preservation. The event was attended by more than 35 students, reflecting a significant level of student engagement and interest in environmental and sustainability-related topics. The workshop also addressed key contemporary environmental challenges and explored strategies to reduce their impact through the adoption of sustainable practices at both individual and community levels. It further emphasized the importance of empowering women as essential partners in achieving sustainable development goals. This workshop is part of a series of academic and awareness activities organized by the Women’s Affairs Committee, aimed at promoting knowledge dissemination and enhancing the role of women in addressing societal and environmental issues.
