The Department of Prosthetics and Orthotics Engineering held an online workshop entitled “Safe Sterilization of Polymeric Materials in Hospitals in Ozone Water Baths” on Friday, 27/3/2026, presented by Professor Dr. Mohammed Hamza Al-Maamouri, Head of the Department.
The workshop discussed the importance of using modern sterilization techniques to maintain the safety of polymeric materials used in the medical field, with a focus on ozone water bath technology and its role in achieving effective and safe sterilization without affecting material properties.
The workshop also reviewed key practical applications of this technique in hospitals, in addition to discussing its advantages compared to traditional sterilization methods, as well as the challenges that may face its implementation in healthcare institutions.
The workshop witnessed active participation, with attendees engaging through questions and discussions, contributing to enhancing both scientific and practical understanding of the topic.
This workshop aims to enhance the competencies of students and staff in handling medical materials, in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), by promoting safety and sterilization standards in healthcare institutions.
