As part of ongoing efforts to enhance academic leadership and scientific excellence in the field of renewable energy, the College of Engineering Technologies at Al-Mustaqbal University hosted a distinguished scientific lecture on Saturday morning, March 29, 2026. The lecture, titled “Engineering and Design Determinants of Photovoltaic Energy Systems,” was held in the classroom of the Power Mechanics Department, attended by a select group of faculty members and students, under the direct supervision of Dean Azhar Mohsen Abd.
The lecture began by highlighting the growing importance of solar energy as a cornerstone in the transition to clean and sustainable energy. It focused on the scientific and engineering determinants underlying the design of photovoltaic systems and achieving their operational efficiency. The lecture also addressed the latest standards and design principles that ensure optimal utilization of solar energy amid the environmental and climatic challenges facing the world.
Dean Azhar Mohsen Abd delivered an interactive scientific presentation that included an in-depth analysis of various technical and practical aspects related to photovoltaic energy systems—starting from the selection of materials and modern technologies, passing through optimal design mechanisms, and concluding with strategies for improving operational efficiency and reducing energy losses. The presentation was accompanied by fruitful discussions with students and faculty, focusing on ways to address practical challenges in this field and the importance of linking theoretical knowledge to practical application in renewable energy projects.
During the lecture, the dean emphasized the university’s pioneering role in supporting engineering innovation and adopting the latest global trends in the field of sustainable energy, highlighting the achievements of Al-Mustaqbal University as the leading private university in Iraq in supporting modern scientific programs and keeping pace with technological advancements.
This scientific event reflected the college’s dedication to developing students’ competencies and expanding their knowledge, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals—especially Goal 7, which pertains to providing affordable and clean energy. The lecture also promoted a culture of research and application among students and underscored the importance of partnerships between academia and the labor market in developing sustainable engineering solutions that meet future requirements.
