The Forensic Evidence Department at the College of Science, Al-Mustaqbal University, organized an online scientific workshop on Tuesday, March 26, 2026, entitled "From the Civilization of Babylon to the Drought Crisis", with the participation of a number of students.
The workshop aimed to highlight the environmental transformations in the Babylon region throughout history, from its ancient civilization to the current challenges represented by drought, as well as to raise students’ awareness about the importance of preserving water resources and addressing climate change.
The workshop covered several key topics, including the historical significance of Babylon, the causes of the current drought crisis, its environmental and economic impacts, and potential solutions to mitigate its effects.
The session was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Ali Hassan Mahdi, who emphasized the importance of combined scientific and societal efforts in addressing environmental challenges and the role of awareness in preserving natural resources.
The workshop witnessed active engagement from students through questions and discussions, reflecting their interest in contemporary environmental and historical issues.
The department reaffirmed its commitment to organizing such online workshops that contribute to enhancing students’ skills and awareness in line with sustainable development goals.
