The Engineering Technical College organized a seminar on women's role in sustainability

The Engineering Technical College held a special seminar celebrating Mother's Day, sponsored by Professor Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, with attendance and guidance from Assistant Professor Azhar Mohsen Abd, Dean of the College, and supervised by Ahd Hamid Jihaz, Head of the Women's Affairs Unit, on Tuesday 31/3/2026 at 10:00 AM in the Central Student Activities Hall, Engineering Building, third floor, in cooperation with Al-Karkh University of Science, College of Remote Sensing and Geophysics. The seminar, titled “The Role of Women in Promoting Environmental Awareness and Sustainable Development,” featured Professor Amani Ibrahim Mohammed, who presented a scientific talk on plastic risks and their negative impacts on the environment and public health, highlighting women's leading role in spreading environmental awareness and encouraging eco-friendly practices through initiatives addressing modern environmental challenges. The seminar also honored Zahraa Hashim Kareem, Head of Artificial Intelligence Engineering Technologies Department, in recognition of her scientific and administrative efforts and contributions to supporting academic progress and enhancing women's role in scientific and technological fields. The seminar aimed to promote environmental awareness and support sustainable development goals, particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), Goal 5 (Gender Equality), and Goal 13 (Climate Action), by empowering women as active contributors to building a more aware and sustainable society. This event reaffirms Al-Mustaqbal University’s leading role among private universities in Iraq in supporting scientific and awareness activities that serve society and promote sustainable development.
