On Saturday morning, April 4, 2026, under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, the fifth annual Al-Mustaqbal Book Fair was inaugurated. This fair, considered one of the most prominent cultural events among Iraqi universities, was held under the slogan: “Our Book, Our Future.” The opening ceremony was attended by a large academic and cultural gathering, including university professors and students, as well as a select group of intellectuals and those interested in cultural affairs. The opening ceremony began with a speech delivered on behalf of the university president by Professor Dr. Abbas Abdul Ali Al-Bawi, Assistant President for Scientific Affairs. In his speech, he emphasized that the fair represents an advanced knowledge platform reflecting the university's commitment to supporting cultural activities and promoting scientific awareness, in addition to strengthening students' relationship with books as the cornerstone of building and advancing societies. The exhibition features 25 publishing houses from around the world, offering a diverse selection of scientific and literary publications that cater to readers across various disciplines. A comprehensive cultural program is also included, featuring panel discussions and meetings with leading writers and literary figures, as well as theatrical performances and art exhibitions that enrich the cultural landscape. The event also included the launch of a free book voucher initiative, a significant step aimed at encouraging students to read and fostering a culture of reading and knowledge. The exhibition is expected to run for a full week, providing visitors with ample opportunity to explore the latest publications and participate in the accompanying cultural activities.
