The transformation toward smart hospitals is considered one of the most prominent features of modern development in the healthcare sector, as the integration of digital technologies and intelligent medical systems constitutes a fundamental in improving the quality of healthcare services provided to patients. This transformation relies on the adoption of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Medical Things, and big data analytics, with the aim of building an integrated healthcare system capable of responding quickly and accurately to diagnostic and treatment requirements. Intelligent medical systems contribute to a qualitative shift in healthcare delivery mechanisms by enhancing diagnostic accuracy and reducing medical errors. These systems enable the analysis of vast amounts of health data in a very short time, assisting physicians in making treatment decisions based on precise scientific foundations. Moreover, machine learning techniques make it possible to predict diseases before they worsen, supporting preventive healthcare and reducing hospital admission rates. In this context, connected medical devices play a pivotal role in continuously monitoring patients’ health conditions, where vital data are collected in real time and transmitted to central systems for analysis and appropriate action when needed. This enhances the responsiveness of medical staff to emergency cases and improves the overall level of care, especially for patients with chronic diseases. The shift toward smart hospitals also positively impacts the efficiency of healthcare resource management. Intelligent systems help organize workflows reduce time and effort waste, and improve the distribution of staff and resources. Electronic health records are considered a key pillar in this transformation, as they facilitate secure and rapid access to patient information, thereby enhancing continuity and integration of care across different departments. Despite the significant benefits offered by smart hospitals, this transformation faces several challenges, most notably cybersecurity issues and the protection of health data, in addition to the need for advanced technological infrastructure and qualified personnel capable of handling these modern systems. Nevertheless, investing in such technologies represents a strategic step toward developing the healthcare sector and achieving higher levels of quality and efficiency. In light of this, it can be said that the transition toward smart hospitals represents the future of healthcare, as it contributes to delivering more accurate and efficient medical services, enhances patient experience, and supports the الاتجاه toward a sustainable healthcare system based on innovation and advanced technology.
