Under the patronage of the respected President of Al-Mustaqbal University, and under the supervision of the respected Dean of the College of Administrative Sciences, the Department of Financial and Banking Sciences organized a specialized scientific workshop on Monday, April 6, 2026, entitled: “National Duties Amid Water Scarcity Toward Sustainable Development.” The workshop witnessed active participation from faculty members and students. It was delivered by Assistant Lecturers Ali Hassan Kassar and Ghadeer Haider, who highlighted the fundamental role of promoting awareness of national duties as a tool to address current environmental challenges, foremost among them the water scarcity crisis facing the region. Workshop Themes and Objectives The workshop focused on several key themes aimed at: Defining responsibilities: Highlighting the responsibility of individuals and institutions in preserving water resources. Rationalizing consumption: Emphasizing the importance of adopting responsible behaviors to reduce waste and ensure optimal use of water. Supporting sustainability: Linking efficient water resource management to sustainable development for Al-Mustaqbal generations. Challenges and Proposed Solutions Participants discussed the major challenges facing Iraq in light of the severe shortage of water resources, stressing the importance of integration and cooperation between government bodies and community institutions to develop effective solutions for efficient water management. The workshop included extensive discussions and contributions from attendees, reflecting the growing interest in environmental issues within the academic community. Key Recommendations The workshop concluded with several important recommendations, most notably: Promoting environmental awareness: Spreading a culture of water conservation as part of national identity. Enhancing social responsibility: Strengthening the sense of national duty to protect water resources from depletion. Continuing scientific research: Supporting studies that provide technical and scientific solutions to combat drought. This workshop is part of a series of scientific activities adopted by Al-Mustaqbal University to strengthen the role of academia in serving society and addressing national challenges through a sustainable scientific vision.
