Under the generous patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, the activities of the Fifth Annual Al-Mustaqbal Book Fair were inaugurated on the morning of Saturday, April 4, 2026. The fair is considered the largest cultural event at the level of Iraqi universities and is held under the slogan: “Our Book, Our Future,” with wide attendance that included university faculty members, students, and a distinguished group of intellectuals and individuals interested in cultural affairs. The opening ceremony began with a speech on behalf of the university presidency, delivered by Professor Dr. Abbas Abdul Ali Al-Bawi, Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs. He emphasized that the fair represents a leading knowledge platform reflecting the university’s commitment to supporting culture, spreading scientific awareness, and strengthening students’ connection with books as a cornerstone in building societies. The exhibition features the participation of 25 publishing houses from various countries around the world, offering a rich diversity of scientific and literary publications. It also includes a comprehensive cultural program with meetings featuring a selection of writers, poets, and intellectuals, as well as distinguished theatrical performances and inspiring art exhibitions. The fair also witnessed the launch of an initiative to distribute coupons for free book purchases, aiming to encourage students to read and enhance their culture of knowledge and learning. The exhibition is expected to continue for a full week, providing visitors with a greater opportunity to explore the latest publications and participate in a variety of cultural activities.
