College of Health and Medical Technologies Marks World Autism Awareness Day

As part of its commitment to supporting health and humanitarian causes and promoting community awareness, the College of Health and Medical Technologies organized a distinguished event on the occasion of World Autism Awareness Day under the theme “Together, We Understand Autism.” The event witnessed active participation from faculty members and students, in collaboration with the center of specialist Sura Haroun Rashid. The college hosted a group of children from the center, where they were warmly welcomed in an atmosphere filled with care and encouragement. The program included a series of recreational and interactive activities designed to bring joy to the children and enhance their integration into educational and social environments, reflecting the college’s strong sense of social responsibility. The event also featured an informative scientific lecture delivered by specialist Sura Haroun Rashid, who addressed the concept of Autism Spectrum Disorder, the importance of early diagnosis, and the latest methods of rehabilitation and التعامل with affected children. She emphasized the crucial role of family and community support in improving their quality of life and enabling their active participation in society. In her remarks, the Dean of the College, Dr. Zahraa Halim Al-Qayyim, affirmed that such initiatives align with the college’s vision to strengthen health and humanitarian awareness among students and to reinforce the role of academic institutions in community service, particularly in supporting and empowering individuals with special needs. At the conclusion of the event, certificates of appreciation were awarded to specialist Sura Haroun Rashid and the center’s administration in recognition of their outstanding efforts in caring for children and raising awareness about Autism Spectrum Disorder, as well as their valuable humanitarian contributions.
