In a step reflecting Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to strengthening its international presence and expanding its academic partnerships, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, held an official meeting with Professor Dr. Erol Özvar, Turkish Minister of Higher Education and President of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Eurasia Higher Education Summit and Exhibition (EURIE 2026) in Istanbul on April 7, 2026.
This meeting comes as part of the university’s efforts to enhance its global engagement and build strategic partnerships with international academic institutions. Both sides discussed ways to develop joint cooperation with Turkish universities, aiming to advance academic and research standards.
The meeting addressed several key areas, most notably digital transformation and artificial intelligence applications. Discussions focused on expanding specialized educational programs in modern technologies and benefiting from the Turkish experience in cybersecurity and innovative educational models, particularly in supporting vital sectors such as healthcare and digital agriculture.
The importance of collaboration in green technology and sustainability was also emphasized. The President of Al-Mustaqbal University highlighted the university’s strategic focus on climate change, resource management, renewable energy, and the green economy, positioning these fields as top priorities.
In a related context, both parties reviewed the university’s ongoing efforts to update its curricula in accordance with the Bologna Process, ensuring improved quality of higher education and alignment of outcomes with international standards.
The meeting witnessed a positive exchange of perspectives, reflecting a mutual interest in expanding academic cooperation and activating joint research and exchange programs.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi presented a commemorative gift representing the ancient civilization of Babylon (the Lion of Babylon), as an expression of cultural pride and appreciation for the Turkish side’s efforts in supporting international cooperation in higher education.
