Al-Mustaqbal University Strengthens Its International Presence with High-Level Participation in the Opening Session of EURIE 2026 in Istanbul

As part of its strategic vision toward internationalization and expanding academic collaboration, Al-Mustaqbal University participated with a high-level delegation headed by its President, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, in the opening session of the EURIE 2026 Summit, held in Istanbul, with broad participation from international universities and academic institutions. The opening session witnessed distinguished attendance of more than 2,000 academic figures, including university presidents, deans, professors, researchers, and experts in the higher education sector, in addition to the presence of the Minister of Higher Education and several members of the Turkish government. This reflects the significant importance of the summit at both academic and governmental levels. The opening ceremony also featured keynote speeches by prominent international academic leaders, including Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın, President of the Eurasian Universities Union; Mr. Phil Baty, representative of Times Higher Education; and Prof. Dr. Amr Salama, Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities, all of whom emphasized the importance of strengthening international cooperation and exchanging expertise among academic institutions. The delegation of Al-Mustaqbal University included Prof. Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision; Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Shaker Majdi, Dean of the College of Engineering; Asst. Prof. Dr. Azhar Mohsen Abd, Dean of the College of Engineering Technologies; and Prof. Dr. Salwan Ubaid, Director of Al-Mustaqbal Center for Energy Research, along with a number of academic staff members. In his statement on this occasion, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi affirmed that the university’s participation in the opening session of EURIE 2026 represents an important step in enhancing its international presence and openness to leading global academic experiences. He noted that this participation reflects the university’s commitment to expanding academic cooperation and building strategic partnerships with reputable higher education institutions. He added that attending the opening session provides a valuable opportunity to explore the latest global trends in higher education development, as well as to strengthen academic relations in a way that supports the university’s journey toward excellence and leadership at the international level. Al-Mustaqbal University is the first one university in Iraq.
