The Department of Power Mechanical Engineering Techniques organized a scientific field trip for fourth-year students to the New Water Project in Babylon Province on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Duha Radi Nayef. The trip aimed to enhance students’ practical skills and bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world applications. During the visit, students had the opportunity to observe the water treatment process firsthand, including modern filtration and purification techniques used in the project. The visit also included detailed explanations by specialists about the operation of various treatment units, starting from raw water intake, through sedimentation, filtration, and disinfection processes, to the final stage of supplying potable water. This field trip aligns with the department’s efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation, by preparing qualified students equipped with both scientific knowledge and practical experience in water resource management and treatment.
