Field Study for Evaluating Energy Efficiency in University Buildings

Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi, and in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Division, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Engineering Technology / Department of Fuel and Energy Power Engineering Technology, supervised by Lecturer Zahraa Salah Hadi, conducted a case study titled "Evaluating Energy Efficiency in University Buildings Using Field Observation" as part of the National Plan for Iraqi Women's pillars of Participation, Empowerment, and Development. The study aimed to analyze energy consumption in university buildings by monitoring lighting, air conditioning, and ventilation systems to provide engineering recommendations for improving performance and reducing waste in line with modern sustainability standards and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 7, 11, and 13). By linking engineering knowledge with practical campus challenges, the initiative promotes applied research and social responsibility while highlighting the essential role of women in sustainable development, reflecting the department's commitment to applied education and the scientific empowerment of women within the academic environment.
