The First Al-Mustaqbal Fuel and Energy Forum, held as part of the Sustainability Week activities on April 13th, featured a distinguished research contribution by Lecturer Assistant Shahad Mahmoud Mohammed. She presented a specialized scientific poster titled "Associated Gas Flaring in South Iraq Oil Fields: From Energy Waste to Sustainable Investment Opportunities." The research highlighted the environmental and economic challenges resulting from gas flaring operations, providing engineering and technical insights to transform this waste into invested energy resources that support the national economy. This initiative aligns directly with the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and Goal 13 (Climate Action). The presentation garnered significant interest from academics and specialists for offering realistic solutions to reduce carbon emissions and enhance the efficiency of natural resource utilization in Iraq. This participation underscores the vital role of academic expertise in providing innovative proposals that support the transition toward environmental sustainability and optimal energy investment.
