Al-Mustaqbal University, the first among private universities in Iraq, launched the “Sustainability March” as part of the Fourth International Future Sustainability Week 2026, in the presence of the University President, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, with wide participation from university staff and students, “Future Sustainability Ambassadors.” The initiative aimed to promote a culture of sustainability and enhance environmental awareness داخل and beyond the university campus.
The event took place in 2026 on the الجامعة campus, where the march witnessed strong engagement reflecting a clear institutional commitment to responsible environmental practices. In his remarks, the University President emphasized that the active participation of students and staff indicates a high level of environmental awareness and institutional belonging, noting that such initiatives contribute to preparing a generation capable of leading change toward a more sustainable future.
For his part, the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, Professor Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, stated that the “Sustainability March” represents a practical implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and reflects the university’s approach since 2019 toward becoming a sustainable institution. He also highlighted the important role of students in spreading sustainability culture within society.
The march included several awareness stations showcasing the university’s key initiatives, including expanding green spaces, preserving biodiversity, adopting clean energy, implementing hydroponic and tissue culture technologies, as well as waste recycling programs, modern irrigation systems, and promoting green transportation on campus.
This initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), and Goal 13 (Climate Action), reinforcing the university’s leadership in supporting sustainability and building a green, innovative educational environment.
