Under the patronage of the Dean of the al-Mustaqbal College University, Hassan Shaker Magdi, and in order to achieve the fourth sustainable development goal (quality education), a group of students in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Petroleum Industries made a poster explaining the components of the freezing and cloud test device for oil products under the supervision of Eng. M. Ban Ali Hassan
The freezing point test is designed to indicate the lowest temperature at which an oil, when cooled at a certain rate, remains liquid. When petroleum oils are cooled they tend to become more or less plastic solids, this may be due to partial separation and hardening of existing wax or actual freezing of the heavy hydrocarbons that make up the oil.
When cooling is done under certain specific conditions, the temperature at which enough wax crystallizes to give the oil a cloudy appearance is called the cloud point.
