Within the College Strategic Program to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals, specifically, SDG4: Quality Education, and under the Guardianship of Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, Dean of Al-Mustaqbal University College, Medical Laboratories Techniques Department has organized a Training Workshop entitled

“Bacterial Resistance & Wrong Use of Antibiotics”

It is remarkable to note that the Workshop has been constituted of two sessions. The first is theoretical, delivered by the Academic Ms. Ola Abbas Khdair, whereas the second session is practical conducted under the supervision of the Academic Ms. Elaf Taha Adnan, with the participation of a group of students.
Bacterial Resistance to Antibiotics is considered nowadays as one of the biggest global health challenges. Nonetheless, the community awareness of this problem is very low, and this is mainly attributed to non-sufficient documentation & absence of a global system for data collection. As a matter of fact, a report, prepared by the UK Government in 2016, estimated that by 2050, around 10 million people might die due to Antibiotic-Resistant Infections.
It has been clarified that all types of bacteria, viruses, parasites and other microbes are constantly changing and evolving, whereas some have adapted to Medical Treatment that drugs are no longer able to kill or control them, and thus leading to the phenomenon of Drug-Resistant Infections.
