The Philippine residential house sector consumes a large percent of the countries generated electricity , and the price of electricity there is one of the highest in Asia . With a government program in renewable energy utilization and energy efficiency , the development of energy efficient houses is important. It is important to investigate how to minimize the houses energy consumption, and the results show that a houses electricity consumption can be supported by the installation of solar photovoltaic panel on its rooftop .A solar thermal energy collector with an auxiliary biomass water heater could support the hot water requirement of the house dehumidication system combined with evaporator and ground cooling system s can keep the houses temperature below ( 27 °C) with a humidity ratio of less than (11g/ kg year- round) . Energy conservation measures such as additional insulation of a concrete house , unplugging of unused electrical appliances and application of light – emitting diode lighting are important to reduce electric energy consumption. The application of new building technologies is having a positive impact on a building energy consumption and indoor environment conditions. The results are important for alternative energy utilization and energy efficiency . In residential buildings , energy conservation through the application of high performance envelop, ventilation, energy efficient lighting and appliances is becoming common in developed countries such JAPAN .In some residential buildings installation of non- conventional energy utilization devices such as , solar thermal collector , photo voltaic done . In other countries such as GERMANY , IT was demonstrated that the utilization of different renewable building technologies can make even a whole town energy independent . The solar decathlon contest is aimed to developing house which can itself generate its own energy requirement.
