Within the trends of the Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Engineering Department in supporting scientific research and project development, and under direct supervision of Assist. Prof. Dr. Azher M. Abed, the academics and the students of the department have completed the Renewable Energy Research Laboratory so as to support sustainable development adopted by the college as part of the 17 strategic goals of the United Nations.<br />The laboratory incorporates many devices and projects, including wind energy system, cooling system, absorption refrigerator working by solar energy, lighting and the educational boards used for connecting solar energy system. The laboratory has also been equipped with devices that measure the intensity of solar radiation as well as a device utilized for measuring wind speed, temperature, humidity, the capacity of solar panels and the effect of temperature and soil. Besides, the laboratory aims to assist undergraduate as well as postgraduate students in completing their projects and applied research. <br />Engineer Ali Abdul Kadhim who is in charge of the laboratory added by saying that all the readings and information that can be obtained of the solar and wind energy could be stored on the main board and then sent via the internet to the user so as to remotely control the system. <br />
