As part of its academic and societal efforts to raise awareness and enhance intellectual security, the Sustainability Ambassadors in the Forensic Evidence Department at Al-Mustaqbal University organized a volunteer campaign under the slogan:<br />“Forensic Evidence: The Legal Weapon Against Terrorism” on Monday, February 17, 2025.<br /><br />This initiative stems from the importance of raising awareness about the dangers of violent extremism leading to terrorism and the need to strengthen the role of academic institutions in promoting a culture of moderation and tolerance. It also highlights the crucial role of forensic evidence as a decisive tool in combating crime and terrorism based on legal principles.<br /><br />The campaign is part of Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to enhancing societal security and stability. It sheds light on the dangers of extremist ideologies that threaten social cohesion and emphasizes the importance of law in combating terrorism through scientific methods and forensic evidence.<br /><br />Alignment with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<br /><br />This campaign aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, by spreading awareness on security, justice, and the rule of law and highlighting the role of legal institutions in building safer communities.<br /><br />Additionally, it supports Goal 4: Quality Education, by providing students with valuable insights into the risks of violent extremism and equipping them with critical thinking skills to differentiate between moderate discourse and extremist narratives.<br /><br />Campaign Activities<br /><br />The campaign was supervised by Asst. Lecturer Fatima Tawfik Al-Khuzaie and Asst. Lecturer Fatima Habib Ibrahim. Activities included the distribution of educational brochures containing essential information about violent extremism, its methods, and its consequences, along with the pivotal role of forensic evidence in identifying perpetrators of terrorist acts and bringing them to justice.<br /><br />The supervisors also conducted detailed discussions with students across Al-Mustaqbal University, with a particular focus on Forensic Evidence Department students. The discussions emphasized the significance of their specialization in uncovering facts and combating terrorism both scientifically and legally, reinforcing their future role in achieving justice and fighting organized crime.<br /><br />Student Engagement and Future Plans<br /><br />The campaign received positive engagement from students, who showed great interest in the topic and raised numerous questions about the mechanisms of detecting terrorist crimes using forensic evidence. This reflects their growing awareness of the importance of forensic science in ensuring security and justice.<br /><br />Looking ahead, the Sustainability Ambassadors in the Forensic Evidence Department aim to expand this initiative by organizing workshops and interactive lectures in collaboration with security and counterterrorism experts.
