Forensic Evidence Department Organizes “Crime Scene Workshop” in Collaboration with Babylon Police Directorate

In a significant scientific step that reflects the integration between academic education and practical application, the Forensic Evidence Department at Al-Mustaqbal University, in collaboration with the Babylon Police Directorate, organized a distinguished event titled “Crime Scene Workshop.”<br /><br />The workshop took place on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Al-Mustaqbal University, attended by Dr. Abbas Al-Bawi, Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Furat Hamza Al-Sultani, Dean of the College. Additionally, a number of professors, faculty members, officers, and personnel from the College of Sciences and Babylon Security Directorate participated in the event.<br /><br />The workshop featured a realistic crime scene simulation, where a staged crime was presented in front of Forensic Evidence students in a professional manner. The performance included detailed crime scene reenactments, allowing students to interact with physical evidence and analyze it using modern forensic methods.<br /><br />This unique experience provided students with the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge in a real-world setting, enhancing their ability to analyze crime scenes accurately. The training covered essential forensic skills such as evidence collection, fingerprint analysis, bloodstain pattern examination, and forensic evaluation of weapons and crime-related objects.<br /><br />A Step Towards Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<br /><br />This initiative aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including:<br /> 1. Quality Education (Goal 4): The workshop enhances the quality of education by providing practical experiences that develop students’ skills and prepare them for real-world forensic investigations.<br /> 2. Prof. Dr. Sami Abdul Hussein Habana, Head of the Department, and Assistant Lecturer Riam Thaer, Department Rapporteur. Their efforts, in coordination with security specialists, ensured an immersive and educational experience for the students.<br /><br />Faculty members and forensic experts guided students through crime scene analysis, making them experience the real-world complexities of criminal investigations.
