Simulation of Safe Road Planning
Under the supervision of the Head of the Department of Building and Construction Technologies Engineering, Dr. Mayada Wahid Falah, and in alignment with the eleventh goal of sustainable development (Sustainable Cities and Communities), Lecturer M.M. Haneen Fadel Kazem organized an activity titled "Simulation of Safe Road Planning."

Objective:
Raising awareness among participants about the importance of designing roads that minimize accidents and enhance traffic safety.

Required Tools:
Paper or digital maps of a selected road (real or virtual).
Colored pens / Design software (such as AutoCAD or SketchUp).
Miniature models of vehicles and pedestrians (if the activity is hands-on).
Accident data for the selected road (if available).
Activity Steps:
1️⃣ Team Division: Participants are divided into teams, each representing a group of planning engineers.

2️⃣ Problem Analysis: Each team is given a road map with safety issues, such as:

Dangerous intersections.
Lack of traffic signals.
Absence of pedestrian crossings.
Sharp slopes and curves.
3️⃣ Proposing Solutions: Teams must develop solutions to enhance safety, such as:

Adding speed bumps to slow down vehicles.
Creating illuminated pedestrian crossings.
Improving the design of curves and intersections.
Installing smart traffic signals.
4️⃣ Presentation of Solutions: Each team presents its proposals and defends its ideas.

5️⃣ Discussion and Evaluation: The best solution is selected based on efficiency, cost, and feasibility.

Activity Outcomes:
✅ Encouraging critical and creative thinking in road design.
✅ Understanding key factors affecting road safety.
✅ Developing traffic data analysis skills.

📍 Al-Mustaqbal University - The No.1 University in Iraq
