In order to achieve the goals of sustainable development<br />Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-Being): Focuses on improving human health and well-being by ensuring access to comprehensive health care and improving the quality of life for all individuals<br />Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities): This goal focuses on improving the urban environment and ensuring that cities and communities are able to meet the current and future needs of their populations in a sustainable manner<br /><br />The Sustainability Ambassadors in the Department of biology , represented by the lecturer (M.M. Zainab Nazim Aziz) and the assistant (Benin Maan Karim) and the second-stage students, organized an awareness campaign on (Take a Clean Breath: Towards a Smoke-Free Environment), where the campaign included distributing awareness brochures to university students.<br /><br />Smoking is one of the most prominent factors that negatively affect human health, as it causes many serious diseases such as cancer, heart disease, and strokes.<br /><br />The importance of a smoke-free environment<br /><br />Protecting the health of individuals:<br /><br />Passive smoking (exposure to cigarette smoke by non-smokers) is one of the biggest health risks. It increases the risk of heart disease, cancer, and respiratory diseases.<br /><br />A smoke-free environment contributes to reducing these risks for all members of society.<br /><br />Encouraging smokers to quit:<br /><br />When the environment is smoke-free, smokers may feel more encouraged to quit smoking. A smoke-free environment provides a supportive environment for people seeking to quit.<br /><br />Reducing smoking-related diseases:<br /><br />A smoke-free environment contributes to reducing the incidence of chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer, respiratory diseases, and accidents resulting from smoking (such as fires).<br /><br />Reducing air pollution:<br /><br />Cigarettes pollute the air with many toxic chemicals. Smoke-free environments contribute to improving the air quality in public and private places.<br /><br />Al-Mustaqbal University is the first university in Iraq
