Under the supervision of the Head of the Department of Building and Construction Technologies Engineering, and in alignment with the 11th Sustainable Development Goal (Sustainable Cities and Communities), Dr. Sabah Mohammed Abdul Musheb organized an awareness activity titled:<br /><br />"Deconstruction and the Element of Surprise."<br />The thinker Charles Jencks describes Deconstruction Architecture as an architecture of fragmentation, asymmetry, and discontinuity—a style full of unexpected surprises, using classical architectural elements in a reversed or distorted manner (Al-Arabiya Magazine, 2007).<br /><br />Main Approaches in Deconstruction Architecture:<br />Deconstruction and Connection: This approach involves breaking down a whole into parts and reassembling them, creating an unexpected and unconventional style.<br />The Modern Structural Trend Led by Zaha Hadid:<br />In Zaha Hadid’s works, there is no clear distinction between form and representation.<br />Her designs liberate architecture from traditional functional and representational constraints.<br />She focuses on dynamic forms that defy gravity.<br />One of the key philosophical and conceptual foundations of her work is disorientation and disruption.<br />Characteristics of Her Designs:<br />Extreme abstraction in curved and wavy lines.<br />Tilted roofs supported by complex structures.<br />This session provided valuable insights into Deconstruction Architecture, highlighting its innovative and unconventional nature, particularly in the works of Zaha Hadid.
