The Media Department at ALMUSTAQBAL University, in collaboration with the English Language Department, organized a scientific workshop titled "The Social and Intellectual Roots of Extremism", aiming to raise awareness about the dangers of extremist ideologies. The workshop was led by Assistant Professor Dr. Hamza Abis Abdul-Sada, Dr. Qasim Mahdi Hamza, Dr. Adnan Mousa Khattar, and Lecturer Abdul-Kadhim Mohammed Asweid. The event was attended by the Head of the Psychological and Educational Counseling Division, M.M. Zahraa Salah Ali, M.M. Haneen Jabbar Abdul-Amir, along with a number of students from the English Language Department.<br />The workshop covered several key topics, including the definition of extremism, its causes, characteristics, manifestations, and consequences, as well as discussions on how extremist ideologies are formed and ways to counter them in society. The speakers emphasized the importance of combating extremist thought and highlighted the role of educational institutions in promoting human values and fostering a culture of coexistence and peace.<br />It is worth mentioning that the participants recommended integrating the topic of "Intellectual Extremism" into the Human Rights curriculum, emphasizing its role in enhancing students’ awareness and building an enlightened society.
