Incubators play a crucial role in the care of premature infants. However, with technological advancements, it has become essential to compare the efficiency of smart incubators with traditional ones to understand their fundamental differences. Traditional incubators rely on manual adjustments of temperature and humidity, requiring constant monitoring by medical staff, whereas smart incubators use advanced technologies to automatically regulate these factors based on the infant's needs.

One of the most significant advantages of smart incubators is the reduction of human errors. They rely on precise sensor systems that analyze vital data in real time, minimizing the risk of sudden changes that could affect the infant’s health. Additionally, integrating artificial intelligence (AI) allows for historical data analysis and risk prediction, enabling doctors to make faster and more accurate decisions.

Regarding infection control, smart incubators provide innovative solutions such as self-sterilization systems and reduced direct contact, which helps prevent the spread of bacteria and viruses. In contrast, traditional incubators require intensive and meticulous cleaning procedures to prevent infections, which may sometimes delay infant care.

In terms of energy consumption, smart incubators are more energy-efficient compared to traditional ones. They optimize electricity usage based on the infant's actual needs, contributing to lower hospital operational costs. Additionally, remote control capabilities through smart applications provide doctors and nurses with greater flexibility in managing critical cases, even during emergencies.

Although the initial cost of smart incubators is higher than traditional ones, reducing hospital stays and lowering mortality rates make them a long-term investment in healthcare. Recent comparisons confirm that smart incubators are not only more efficient in providing medical care but also offer a safer and more sustainable experience for premature infants, making them the preferred choice for modern medical institutions.
AL-Mustaqbal University the First University in Iraq.
