As part of the efforts to raise awareness about achieving digital balance and improving quality of life, the Sustainability Ambassadors in the Smart Medical Systems Department organized a special workshop titled "Dopamine Fasting: Restoring Focus and Controlling Digital Habits." The workshop was presented by Dr. Maytham Nabil Muqaddad and Teaching Assistant Ahib Hashim Karim, during which they discussed the various effects of dopamine on the brain and how to use dopamine fasting as an effective tool to enhance productivity and reduce digital addiction.

The workshop covered several key topics, starting with an introduction to dopamine and its crucial role in shaping human habits and behaviors. The participants discussed how constant exposure to digital stimuli impacts focus and mental health. The focus was on how to boost productivity and develop a more balanced lifestyle by using technology more consciously. In this context, the workshop also addressed the role of dopamine fasting in achieving sustainable development goals, particularly in areas such as improving the quality of education and bridging digital divides.

The workshop explored the relationship between dopamine fasting and the sustainable development goals, highlighting how reducing unnecessary technology dependence can contribute to achieving Goal 4 (Quality Education) by minimizing digital distractions and enhancing focus during studies. The importance of strengthening Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) was also emphasized, by developing more sustainable learning methods that rely on the smart use of technology. Regarding Goal 10 (Reduced Inequalities), the role of dopamine fasting in bridging the gap between students was discussed, by enhancing effective learning methods that focus on time investment in a positive manner, rather than passive consumption of digital content.

The workshop saw significant interaction from the participants, who showed great interest in applying dopamine fasting in their daily lives. The challenges individuals may face when implementing this strategy and the best ways to deal with excessive digital habits were also discussed, making the workshop a valuable opportunity for participants to exchange ideas and suggestions on how to adopt a more balanced digital lifestyle.

Al-Mustaqbal University first University in Iraq.
