Efficient water resource management has become one of the most critical challenges facing the agricultural sector, especially in areas suffering from water scarcity. Smart irrigation systems provide an effective solution to this problem, as they rely on sensing technologies and artificial intelligence to analyze the needs of the soil and plants and determine the optimal amount of water for irrigation.
These systems operate using sensors that monitor soil moisture and groundwater levels, in addition to weather data, such as evaporation rates and precipitation. Based on this information, the smart systems determine the optimal irrigation schedule, helping reduce wastage and improve crop productivity.
One of the most significant benefits offered by these systems is improving water use efficiency. Studies have shown that smart irrigation systems can reduce water consumption by up to 50% compared to traditional methods. Additionally, these technologies contribute to lowering operational costs for farmers, as they reduce the need for manual labor in monitoring irrigation.
With the growing demand for sustainability in agriculture, these systems are expected to become a standard feature in modern farms, contributing to the preservation of natural resources and ensuring the sustainability of agricultural production for future generations.

AL-Mustaqbal University the First University in Iraq.
