Antibiotic resistance is one of the biggest health threats humanity faces in the 21st century. With the increasing and often inappropriate use of antibiotics, some bacteria have become resistant to them, making it difficult to treat bacterial infections. Here, artificial intelligence offers innovative solutions to mitigate this issue.

AI technologies analyze biological and bacterial data to identify patterns and mechanisms that lead to drug resistance. By analyzing vast amounts of medical records and lab reports, AI can predict which types of infections are more likely to develop resistance, helping doctors choose the most effective antibiotics.

Moreover, AI can assist in discovering new compounds that may be effective against antibiotic-resistant bacteria by designing drugs that target the mechanisms bacteria use to evade treatment.

The benefit of these technologies lies in reducing unnecessary antibiotic use, thus helping to prevent the development of resistance. However, further research and clinical studies are needed to ensure the safety and efficacy of these applications in combating antibiotic resistance.

Al-Mustaqbal University is the first University in Iraq.
