As part of the scientific and awareness-raising activities held by the Department of Forensic Evidence at – Al-Mustaqbal University, Assistant Lecturer Riyam Thaer conducted a workshop titled “Prevention of Electronic Blackmail”, attended by a number of students and faculty members.<br /><br />The workshop aimed to shed light on the modern techniques used by cybercriminals in blackmailing victims online and to provide guidance on prevention methods and digital safety practices. It also addressed the legal procedures that protect victims’ rights and emphasized the importance of community awareness and the educational institutions’ role in combating this phenomenon.<br /><br />This initiative aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including:<br /> • Goal 4: Quality Education, by promoting digital literacy and cybersecurity awareness among students.<br /> • Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, by fostering a safe digital environment and upholding the rule of law.<br /> • Goal 5: Gender Equality, as electronic blackmail often targets vulnerable groups, especially women and girls.<br /><br />This workshop is part of the department’s ongoing efforts to enhance students’ legal and technical knowledge and equip them with the necessary skills to face modern digital challenges.<br /><br />Al-Mustaqbal University – The First University in Iraq
